Re: "Unilingual children will be at a disadvantage," Oct. 2. Geoff Johnson's perspective that parents are enrolling their children in French immersion for some future economic advantage within Canada is much more esoteric than the reality.

Ubcm resolutions are merely suggestions

Controversial decisions such as a couple made lately should serve to raise some eyebrows. Decriminalization of marijuana and an attempt to prevent any expansion of tanker traffic along the coast are nothing more than suggestions.

I note that recently, several employee groups in B.C. have settled contracts with the provincial government - nurses, doctors and the B.C. Government and Service Employees' Union, including modest increases in wages.

Re: "City loses shot at big triathlon," Oct. 4. The loss of the Ironman triathlon is an indicator of how ridiculous it is to continue with 13 local governments.

Liberals must put resources into transit
