Amalgamation would reduce costs, taxes

The loss of the Ironman triathlon is an indicator of how ridiculous it is to continue with 13 local governments.

More important, it continues to boggle the mind that lack of municipal operations efficiency and cost control has not been improved by amalgamation. It stands to reason that to reduce the 13 municipalities to two or three would reduce costs and taxes for all.

Let's get real - other communities of similar size have one council, one mayor, one police department. Where is our political leadership on this issue?
