Public transportation is part of the solution to creating more sustainable communities. But the huge number of pass-ups for transit users in Victoria shows that we are not making it the priority it needs to be.

It's clear that with the great number of people being stranded waiting for the bus, expanded services would not only be welcomed, they would be well-used.

However, the Liberal government's lack of vision when it comes to transportation planning is leaving communities like Victoria with neither the urgent nor the long-term solutions that are needed.

Adrian Dix and the New Democrats have long been advocating for a portion of carbon-tax revenues to go toward expanding public transit and other emission-reduction initiatives. This reform would allow our region to address pass-ups now and improve service for years to come.
