I've written the last story for the series of stories on the Times Colonist Health Challenge, a 12-week fitness initiative that included personal training, nutrition advice, mental coaching and financial advice.

NDP Leader Adrian Dix promised to freeze BC Ferries fares starting next year. It's the kind of move you'd expect the party to unveil on the coast. Or even on a ferry. But Dix made the announcement in the Fraser Valley.

The voice came from the back of the car. It belonged to the three-year-old strapped in her car seat. Her comment had no discernible bearing on anything that was going on at the time.

Can it be? Are we already here? Have I been postponing this last TC Health Challenge unofficial Wednesday Weigh-in blog post because I don't want this magical time to end? Maybe... Definitely. Like leaving the swimming pool when I was 7...

UPDATE 11:25 a.m. : Dix accepted Van Ryswyk's resignation 90 minutes after the story about her previous comments broke. He called the comments "unacceptable" and said a new candidate will be announced shortly.

In a tiny way I came closer than I ever want to come yesterday to feeling personally the impact of terrorism.

Here we are the end of my 12 week TC Happy/Health Challenge. I can tell you this – when I started this journey 12 weeks ago I completely underestimated where it was going to take me.
