“It’s been a hard 18 months for everybody,” general manager Simon Gillet says.
“Throughout that time, there has been a bit of yearning and missed connection for families who haven’t been able to see each other. Even co-workers and work teams are missing those in-person hangouts.”
10 Acres is excited to gear up for the holiday season, when they’ll be able to host parties for families, co-workers and friends again. Supporting the new government mandate regarding double vaccinated patrons, the restaurant group is pleased to ensure the most comfortable and safe holiday party environment for all.
“We’ve had quite a few calls from people who are excited about doing Christmas and seasonal parties for the first time in a few years,” Gillet says.
A bulk of the credit must go to the community of Greater Victoria, which pulled together during a difficult time and ensured to follow all health and safety recommendations to keep its fellow citizens safe, Gillet says.
“We’re very proud of our province and the city for getting through this together and for getting vaccinated as directed. The vast majority of our staff have received their vaccine shots or have them booked. Everyone is itching to get back to a sense of normalcy,” he says.
“One of the lessons learned over this time is a reinforcement of how much face-to-face time means to people, especially with food or drink and having a meal together. It could be breakfast, dinner, or just having a drink together; it’s meaningful to come together over food.”
