The Victoria Foundation seeks to preserve the reasons why people want to live, work, and play in Greater Victoria.

Can you imagine the future for your grandchildren?

There are many reasons why Greater Victoria continues to see substantial population growth. A few of these reasons include the natural beauty, the friendly community and the convenient access to nature.

That said, even with these great attributes, the community continues to battle decades long issues of affordability, limited housing and limited access to medical services.

The challenge Greater Victoria faces is preserving the reasons people want to live, work and play in the region, while also addressing the hardships. It is critical for the community to take a long-term approach to thinking about addressing these challenges not only for today, but for the next generation as well

The Victoria Vital Signs survey

Getting the community members’ opinions on these issues is the focus for the Victoria Foundation’s 19th annual Vital Signs survey.

The survey covers 12 key issues, including housing, standard of living, health and wellness, and arts and culture. If you live anywhere in the Capital Region, from Sooke to Saanich and View Royal to the southern Gulf Islands, your input in the survey is welcomed.

“Victoria’s Vital Signs provides the community with information that sparks action to improve our region,” said Sandra Richardson, CEO of the Victoria Foundation. “There is a significant amount of complex and integrated challenges in our community, and we hope the theme for 2024 and information collected will help us identify solutions for our region to help our grandkids and future generations.”

Based on positive feedback from last year’s Vital Signs survey, the Victoria Foundation will once again be offering the option of a short-form or long-form survey depending on participants’ preferences.

Those who take the survey will have the opportunity to win one of three $100 gift cards to Country Grocer. By taking the long-form version of the survey, you can double your chances of winning a prize.

The report, which is produced by the Victoria Foundation, will reveal the survey’s final findings on September 24, 2024, as well as provide ideas and resources to connect philanthropy to community needs and opportunities.

Initiated by the Toronto Foundation, the Vital Signs program is a community check-up survey conducted by community foundations across Canada that measures the vitality of our communities and identifies significant trends in a range of areas critical to quality of life. Vital Signs is coordinated nationally by Community Foundations of Canada and presented by sponsor Coast Capital Savings.
