Man stabbed on downtown street, was found bleeding heavily

Victoria police are investigating a stabbing that left a man bleeding heavily from his wounds on a downtown street Saturday morning. Just after 8 a.m., police responded to a fight at the intersection of Broad and Johnson streets.

Victoria police are investigating a stabbing that left a man bleeding heavily from his wounds on a downtown street Saturday morning.

Just after 8 a.m., police responded to a fight at the intersection of Broad and Johnson streets. After finding the victim and providing first aid, police closed the 500-block of Johnson street to begin their investigation.

B.C. Emergency Health Services paramedics took over medical care and took the victim to hospital. It’s believed he will survive.

Officers soon found a suspect in the 900-block of Pandora Avenue. When officers tried to take him into custody, he headbutted and injured a Victoria police officer. The suspect is now being held in police cells.

Police recovered several weapons. Forensic identification officers are documenting the crimes scenes.
