Nearly six months to the day after a man was fatally shot in a Surrey basement suite, two people have been charged in the death.
Twenty-one-year-old Jonathan Michael Kishimoto and 24-year-old Michael Alexander Ross are accused of the second-degree murder of Noel Jackson.
Homicide investigators say Ross is scheduled to appear in court this morning.
RCMP Sgt. Jennifer Pound says a disagreement between Jackson and a small group of people occurred on May 3, 2012, as the group was gathered at a suite in the Clayton neighbourhood of east Surrey.
She says two men left the suite but returned a short time later with a third man.
While the acquaintance waited outside the building, the men burst into the apartment and fired at Jackson, who died at the scene.
Pound says the laying of charges just months after the shooting speaks to the persistence and tenacity of the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team.
