Two male hikers were rescued from Mount Finlayson after three hours of searching by the Langford Fire Rescue Rope team on Monday evening.

The hikers, 41 and 42, called 911 at about 3 p.m. on Monday, after leaving the main trail and were found at about 6 p.m. by rescue crews.

RCMP and Langford Fire responded, with the fire department handling the rescue.

“What they did do, which was useful, was to stay in one spot,” said Assistant Chief Jeff Spriggs.

He said rescue crews were able to track the location of the hikers using the GPS co-ordinates from their cell phones.

It took about an hour-long hike in to get to the area where the hikers were found.

Neither hiker was injured in the ordeal.
