Seven Comox Valley drivers stopped for impaired driving in four hours

Seven impaired drivers were nabbed in just four hours by Comox Valley RCMP last week.

It began just before 11 p.m. July 6 on Cliffe Avenue in Courtenay when a driver was pulled over for not using proper headlights and ended up with a three-day driving prohibition for alcohol impairment.

It began just before 11 p.m. July 6 on Cliffe Avenue in Courtenay when a driver was pulled over for not using proper headlights and ended up with a three-day driving prohibition for alcohol impairment.

A second motorist was stopped for appearing to be smoking marijuana and ended up with a 24-hour driving prohibition for drug impairment.

Driver three was pulled over after being observed swerving toward oncoming traffic. The result was a 90-day driving prohibition and a 30-day vehicle impoundment for alcohol impairment.

The fourth driver, stopped for speeding on Island Highway South, also received a 90-day driving prohibition and a 30-day vehicle impoundment for alcohol impairment.

The fifth driver, a new driver with an N designation, was stopped for speeding, as well, and got a 24-hour driving prohibition for alcohol impairment.

The sixth person was nabbed at 1:44 a.m. on Lerwick Road in Courtenay, and given a 90-day driving prohibition and a 30-day vehicle impoundment for alcohol impairment.

The final incident was at 2:45 a.m. and involved a woman who crashed into a parked vehicle on Kilpatrick Avenue in Courtenay and was arrested for impaired driving. Criminal charges are being recommended.
