Few new details are available more than two weeks after a March 11 shooting that sent a man to hospital and led to the closure of a portion of the Galloping Goose Regional Trail.

Saanich police said Tuesday that investigators have determined that the shooting happened on private property.

They confirmed that the shooting was an isolated event and reiterated that there is no ongoing risk to the public.

No update on the victim’s condition was provided. At the time, police said he had been taken to hospital with injuries that appeared to be non-life threatening.

The trail closure extended from McKenzie Avenue to Grange Road and lasted overnight.

Police said a search conducted in the evening of March 13 on Cowper Street was connected to the shooting but have not given any detail.

People on social media reported three loud bangs in the area the same evening.
