The incidents happened on Saturday and Monday, West Shore RCMP said.

Three West Shore RCMP officers have been injured in recent on-duty incidents, beginning last Saturday when two responded to a report of a man trying vehicle door handles on Spencer Road.

The suspect appeared to be under the influence of drugs, and became violent when told be was going to be detained.

Other officers arrived to help, but one of the first two on the scene suffered a broken hand, while the other suffered a badly sprained hand.

Both are recovering at home, while the suspect was released with a court date once he was sober.

The second incident happened Monday when police responded to a 911 call from a woman in distress.

They went to a Colwood home and found a man who was under court-ordered conditions, stemming from a previous report of intimate-partner violence, not to be in the presence of the woman.

When told he was under arrest, he began fighting with the police and hit an officer in the head.

Charges against the man include assaulting a police officer and resisting or obstructing a police officer. He has been remanded in custody until his next court hearing Jan. 3.
