The drivers and staff who keep handyDART buses on the road are planning to take a strike vote on Monday to back up their contract demands.
Talks between employees and First Canada, which runs the buses under contract to B.C. Transit, broke down over pensions and other issues, said a statement from Canada Auto Workers Local 333.
The handyDART service offers transportation to people with disabilities and the elderly.
The strike vote follows the settlement of a lengthy strike by B.C. Transit operators and staff. Drivers, mechanics and skilled-trades workers refused to work overtime starting in October, leading to the cancellation of dozens of bus trips each day and a backlog of repairs.
