Graffiti suspect surrenders to police after video released to public generates tips

After police released video of the incident, several people called police with tips about the suspect’s identity.

A man suspected of vandalizing two Yates Street buildings with graffiti turned himself in to Victoria police Wednesday, after surveillance video was released to the public last week.

Officers were called Dec. 12 after graffiti was found on buildings at 845 and 848 Yates St. After police released video of the incident, several people called police with tips about the suspect’s identity.

The surrender was arranged by a lawyer. The suspect has been released pending a court date and faces recommended charges for mischief under $5,000.
