Defeated two-term mayor David Screech says he accepts his defeat, but will become “a self-appointed council watchdog.”

Former navy officer Sid Tobias defeated incumbent David Screech, who was first elected to council in 2002 and became mayor in 2014.

Here are the voting locations around Greater Victoria and in Duncan, North Cowichan and Nanaimo in the Oct. 15 civic elections. Polls are open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

In View Royal, two people are running for mayor. Seven people are running for six council seats.

Thirty people are running for nine trustee positions in the Greater Victoria School District.
