Debbie Yeboah poured in 12 of her 23 points in the waning minutes of the fourth quarter and Cassandra Goodis dictated the play as the University of Victoria Vikes dumped the Alberta Pandas 77-70 on Friday night.

Goodis finished with 19 points, eight assists, seven rebounds and six steals to swipe two points from the host Pandas at the Saville Community Sports Centre in Edmonton.

The Vikes women's basketball team improves to 5-2 with the win.

"She was really great for us tonight," Vikes assistant coach Leanne Evans said of Goodis, who actually missed her first free throw of the season with 11 seconds remaining in the game. Goodis went 7-of-8 from the charity stripe and is now 28-of-29 from the foul line in seven games.

"She really gets us organized on offence, and she keeps our team going at a great pace," Evans said of Goodis. "She's really just a great leader for our team right now."

Jessica Renfrew added 12 points for the Vikes while Chelsea McMullen had 10 for Victoria, eight of which came in the first half as the visitors grabbed a 33-28 lead.

"We got contributions from everyone. I thought we really played well tonight," added Evans, whose Vikes regroup for tonight's game against the Saskatchewan Huskies.

"[Today] is going to be a tough game, flying out at 7 a.m. for Saskatchewan. It's definitely going to be a battle. The last time we played them, we lost by one point, so I think we're looking for some revenge," Evans said.

The Vikes outscored Alberta 15-9 in the second quarter Friday.

Sally Hiller was the lone Panda to reach double-digits, finishing with 19 points before leaving the game with the late intentional foul on Goodis.

The win leaves the Vikes in second place in the Pacific division.

In men's play on Friday, the Bears ran off and hid early against the Vikes, opening up a 27-10 lead after the first quarter and managing an easy 89-54 victory in the Canada West matchup of previous 5-1 teams.

Jordan Baker led the way with 18 points for the host Golden Bears, while Terrell Evans replied with 19 for the Vikes. Victoria rookie Kyle Peterson, of Edmonton's Harry Ainlay high school, added 15.
