Westshore Rebels aiming to continue good form against Fraser Valley Huskers

The second-place Westshore Rebels (4-1) host the Fraser Valley Huskers of Chilliwack (1-4) in a B.C. Football Conference game this afternoon at 1 p.m. at Westhills Stadium.

The Rebels are coming off a 45-0 victory last weekend in Kamloops that sent the Broncos to 0-5.

Rebels quarterback Shawn Lal, the six-foot-five pivot out of W.J. Mouat Secondary in Abbotsford, comes into today’s game with a 50.4 per cent completion average on 1,160 passing yards and nine touchdowns tosses against six interceptions.

Lal’s favourite target has been Brycen Mayoh, who has 26 receptions for 300 gained yards and five touchdowns. Mayoh is also the Rebels’ leading punt and kick returner.

Long-ball threat Jeffroy Ojong has hauled in seven receptions for a league-leading 42-yard average per reception and three touchdowns. Nathan Falito has 12 catches for 232 yards and Hayden Crothers 14 for 177 yards for Westshore.

Zach Lubin leads Westshore in rushing with 66 carries for 293 yards.

Maleek Womack leads the Rebels defensively with 14 tackles followed by Jesse Zajaros with 13.

The defending champion and league-leading Langley Rams (6-0) remained undefeated with a 28-3 victory over the Vancouver Island Raiders (3-3) on Saturday afternoon at Caledonia Park in Nanaimo.

The Okanagan Sun (2-3) were meeting the winless Broncos in another BCFC game played Saturday.
