The game was late in starting, but not the Victoria Royals and Kelowna Rockets, who both scored on their first shots of the game Wednesday night in the Okanagan.
The Royals won the WHL tilt 6-3 as its power play went 2-4 and Victoria scored on three of its five shots over the final two periods. It ended for Kelowna (9-5-2) an undefeated-in-regulation run of four games. The Royals (7-7-1) halted a two-game losing skid.
Rookie Keanu Derungs scored 1:15 into the game for Victoria. Ty Yoder, River Fahey, Mitchell Prowse, Sean Gulka and Tarun Fizer had the other Victoria goals. The Royals now move on to Prince George for games Friday and Saturday. —Times Colonist
