Victoria Royals beaten at Spokane Chiefs

The Spokane Chiefs defeated the Victoria Royals 6-1 in Western Hockey League action Saturday night before 7.047 fans at the Veterans Memorial Arena in eastern Washington state.

The Chiefs went to 4-3-1 in the standings and Victoria fell to 2-4-1.

Sean Gulka scored his first goal of the season for the injury-riddled Royals. Phillip Schultz drew back into the Victoria line-up but top-six forwards Gary Haden and Carson Miller were out.

Cordel Larson, Filip Kral and Adam Beckham each had a goal and two assists for Spokane.

Victoria went 0-3 on the power play and Spokane 1-5.

The Royals’ next game is Friday when the Swift Current Broncos make their biennial trip to the Island.
