Rebels' coach, running back pick up awards

Football Conference on Thursday.

John Cardilicchia was named the Ranji Mattu Memorial coach of the year for leading the much improved Rebels to a 7-3 record after a 4-6 mark in 2011.

Greg Morris was handed one of the two most outstanding offensive backs awards, along with Vancouver Island Raiders quarterback Jordan Yantz.

Morris, of Toronto, led the league in rushing and surpassed current B.C.

Lions star, and former Raiders runningback, Andrew Harris for the second highest run totals in a season with his 1,527 yards on 150 carries. Morris also had 14 touchdowns.

Offensive linemen Kyle Daeschel and Rob Smith were both among the league all-stars, as was defensive lineman Wyatt Gray and punter Quinn Van Gylswyk.
