BALTIMORE - Rookie pitcher Chen Wei-yin outduelled Andy Pettitte to guide the Orioles to a 3-2 victory over the New York Yankees Monday and tie their AL division series at one game each.

Chen, from Taiwan, gave up eight hits over 6 1 /3 innings while surrendering two runs, only one of them earned. A two-run single by Chris Davis in the third inning and a run-scoring base hit by Mark Reynolds in the sixth provided offence for the Orioles. Pettitte gave up seven hits and three runs over seven innings.

ST. LOUIS - The St. Louis Cardinals, defending World Series champions, tied their NL division series with Washington at one game apiece Monday. Carlos Beltran hit the last two of the Cardinals' four homers and St. Louis chased an ineffective Jordan Zimmermann early in a 12-4 rout of the Nationals. Daniel Descalso and Allen Craig went deep to get St. Louis ahead, compensating for a two-inning start from ailing Jaime Garcia. Craig hit his fifth career post-season homer and scored three times.
