The Victoria Grizzlies, led by Tobias Pitka, head to the Interior this weekend for a pair of B.C. Hockey League games.

The Grizzlies, fourth in the Coastal Conference at 19-12-1, take on the historic Trail Smoke Eaters (16-12-6) tonight at Cominco Arena and the Merritt Centennials (12-18-4) on Saturday night at the Nicola Valley Arena.

Grizzlies forward Pitka, a Slovak import committed to Boston College of the NCAA, was named MVP of the BCHL Prospects Game played last weekend in Penticton.

Meanwhile, the Alberta Junior Hockey League has cancelled all upcoming games of the five teams that have announced they will be joining the BCHL next season.

They are the Brooks Bandits, Blackfalds Bulldogs, Sherwood Park Crusaders, Spruce Grove Saints and the Okotoks Oilers. Those five teams will only be allowed to play games against each other for the remainder of the AJHL season.
