Evanecz, a Red Deer, Alta., native who now lives in Victoria, shot a final-round 1-over 73 to finish tied for sixth at the second qualifying stage and earn a berth to the final stage of qualifying Nov. 28-Dec. 30 at PGA West in La Quinta, California.

Playing at Bear Creek Golf Club in Murrieta, California, Evanecz had three birdies in his round to finish at 8-under for the tournament and earn one of 19 spots into the final stage.

Sooke resident Stuart Anderson had one of the better rounds of the day, but it wasn't enough to book his ticket to the final stage.

Anderson shot a 5-under 67, but wound up in a tie for 26th at 3-under for the tournament. Anderson had eight birdies on his round Saturday, but bogeyed the par-4 18th.
