Chargers earn silver at golf nationals

The Camosun Chargers men's golf team saved their best for Friday's final round of the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association golf championship at the Oshawa Golf Club.

The Camosun Chargers men's golf team saved their best for Friday's final round of the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association golf championship at the Oshawa Golf Club.

The Chargers' team of Jarred Callbeck, Grant Maskiewich, Jared Hundza and Kevin Walz finished with a three-day total of 897 to capture the silver medals.

The Humber Hawks from Toronto won their fourth consecutive title with an 879 total, while the host Durham Lords from Oshawa claimed the bronze with a 901 total.

"The guys did great this week," said Camosun coach John Randle in a release.

"We struggled a little out of the gate but had strong second and third rounds to secure the silver."

Pacwest player of the year and CCAA All-Canadian Callbeck finished tied for seventh with a 221 total. Maskiewich was in 13th place (224), while Hundza was tied for 14th (225) and Walz was 18th (227).
