The 31st Annual CARE Awards showcased more than 40 categories in construction, renovation and green building

The Victoria Residential Builders Association (VRBA) returned to the Fairmont Empress Hotel to announce the Gold winners for the 2022 Construction Achievements and Renovations of Excellence (CARE) Awards of Vancouver Island on Friday, September 23.

The 31st Annual CARE Awards showcased more than 40 categories hosted by CFAX’s Al Ferraby and attended by 200 finalists, co-workers, friends and family. You can view the winners and projects online at careawards.ca

“Congratulations to all of the Gold CARE Award winners and finalists for their outstanding projects,” says Norm Verbrugge, chair of the 2022 CARE Awards. “A special thank-you to our sponsors, including Al Ferraby, CFAX/CTV Vancouver Island for always making the CARE Awards a wonderful evening.”

In addition to celebrating the CARE Awards, the VRBA advocates for professionalism, education, consumer protection and housing affordability. Incorporated as a non-profit in 1940, VRBA is comprised of 180 builders, renovators, designers, trades and suppliers.

An important CARE Award is Lifetime Achievement Award for a VRBA member dedicated to professionalism and leadership in the housing industry – this year won by Andrew Tidman, Tidman Construction.

VRBA also recognized Habitat for Humanity-Victoria with the Building Better Futures Community Award for their program of affordable home ownership for lower-income families.

Bill Wansbrough Memorial Awards were presented to White Wolf Homes and to EnViroTec General Contracting Ltd for leadership in charitable giving. “Giving back to the community is an important part of our association and members are recognized for their significant contributions,” says Verbrugge.

VRBA’s popular online Expression of Interest form enables consumers to submit a request for a new home or renovation and receive quotes from VRBA’s contractors, many of whom are CARE Award winners.

Edge emphasizes diligence when hiring any contractor, including getting several quotes and references, as well as a fair and balanced contract, which VRBA provides to their members.
