A pedestrian was taken to hospital with what police described as significant injuries after being struck by a vehicle in Gordon Head on Saturday morning.

A pedestrian was taken to hospital with what police described as significant injuries after being struck by a vehicle in Gordon Head on Saturday morning.

Roads in the area of Kenmore Road and Tyndall Avenue were closed for several hours while Saanich police investigated, reopening about 2:30 p.m.

As of Saturday evening, there had been no update on the condition of the pedestrian.

The vehicle involved, a gold Honda Odyssey minivan, was on Tyndall facing south as police investigated. It had damage to its windshield.

There are two marked crossings at the intersection — one across Kenmore and one across Tyndall.

The one across Tyndall is equipped with flashing lights that are activated by those wanting to cross the road.

The crosswalk is also distinguished by alternating dark and light stripes — commonly called a zebra crossing.

There are several parks and schools in the neighbourhood.
