About a week and a half ago we had back-to-back days of trouble with our website. It wouldn't always load.
I'm a newspaper editor, not a technologist, but I'm pretty sure that websites are more effective when they load. At least many of us now know what a "504 Gateway Time-Out" is.
The good news is that it has been a good 10 days since we have had a significant outage — besides the usual vagaries of the Internet — and page-loading times are where we expect them to be.
The actual tech guys seem to have zeroed in on the problems and while they used very non-technical-sounding terms like "flushing the servers," they seem to have fixed the problems.
For now. Nothing is perfect.
In the unlikely event that your timescolonist.com page fails to load properly in the future, follow these easy steps:
- Hit the refresh button.
- Hit the refresh button again.
- Slap the side of your computer.
- Stand on one leg and hit the refresh button.
- Go to the newsstand and get a print copy.
