Would an elected Senate mean more pensions?

Our members of Parliament and provincial MLAs receive a pension after six years of service. If senators are elected for nine-year terms, will they receive pensions at the end of their terms? That would be a potential of 105 new lucrative pensions every nine years.

Would the sitting senators be bought out, and what would that cost amount to? I assume they would not leave without a handsome handshake.

In this age of austerity, would it not make sense to abolish the Senate and buy a $3 rubber stamp from Staples?
