Wage-increase demands should be justified

As a concerned taxpayer, I get tired of hearing the government line about not willing to pay and I also hear the union line about reasonable and equitable pay increases.

As a concerned taxpayer, I get tired of hearing the government line about not willing to pay and I also hear the union line about reasonable and equitable pay increases.

Let us get to the root of the question - what constitutes a fair and reasonable wage? I know I would be more willing to support either side if I knew what we are talking about.

Let the unions publish the current wage scales and compensation for all those seeking pay increases or benefit changes.

If I could see what the union workers are now getting, then I can easily decide whether it is justified or not. I can only assume that the secrecy of wages and benefits that now exists does not help their cause.

If they show us what their needs are, I will be more willing to take their side and pressure the government to increase their wages and benefits.

If the information of their salaries and benefits is not forthcoming, I can only assume their cause is destined to fail because of lack of justification.
