The people had role in Macdonald’s decisions

Sometimes in life we are the statue, others the pigeon. History is bound to repeat itself if we fail to learn from it. Democracy, simply put, is government of the people, by the people, for the people.

Democracy, simply put, is government of the people, by the people, for the people. Before the start of the Second World War, the British cabinet met to vote on whether to start making planes and tanks. Democracy almost cost our freedom.

We elect people to represent us. To say Sir John A. Macdonald was responsible for the residential schools is ridiculous. The people of Canada had a hand in it, as they elected the government to represent them.

Victoria Mayor Lisa Helps and city council were elected by the people, to handle the affairs of the people.

Democracy at times works when we agree with certain outcomes, and other outcomes upset us. I do not agree with the statue’s removal.

Macdonald did some great things, one of which was to form this great nation we call Canada. The great things he accomplished, as well as the not so great, he did not do on his own. Nor has Helps, for that matter. I apologize for the ignorance of our forefathers.

Government of the people, by the people, for the people.
