Saanich byelection needs careful scrutiny

With such an unusually large flock of candidates in the field in the forthcoming Saanich byelection, 10 competing for the one vacancy, it is likely that the winner will pass the post by a short head.

With the degree of business acumen currently being displayed by elected representatives in the handling of Victoria’s Blue Bridge contract and the size of the Saanich annual budget, now approaching $300 million, electors might care to take a careful look at the quality and business expertise of all those offering themselves for this public service. Having examined the nomination documents, fully available on the Saanich municipality internet election pages, for all the candidates, they might decide that some of them have done little to recommend themselves.

I suggest due diligence and extreme care in making this important choice, especially having a good look at those official publications.
