Re: "Don't mix public, private medicine," Sept. 30.
Perhaps the editorial should have considered the reason for the existence of many private surgical clinics, which is that access to operating rooms is severely rationed in the public hospitals, leaving many surgeons searching for operating time in which to practise their profession.
Without the private clinics, waiting lists would be even longer for everyone.
