Plenty of reasons not to moan

It is easy to regurgitate the usual litany of issues that mire our daily lives in the capital city. Bridge-bashing, transit-trashing and sewage-sledging are but three of many topics sure to bring out the best of our moaning and groaning.

If only there was an Olympic category for moaning, surely Victoria could compete for gold.

However, as a longtime resident of Greater Victoria, I would like to applaud the city and regional residents for the vibrancy and effervescence found recently throughout the downtown core. My family and I have thoroughly enjoyed the recent buskers' festival, and in conjunction with various markets, local vendors and performers, food trucks and thousands of tourists, the city really seemed to hum with energy.

I encourage residents, who haven't already done so, to spend a day in town and soak up the many wonderful and varied events on offer. Congratulations to the city and to the various festival and event organizers for your vision and hard work. I truly look forward to participating in more of these events, and to enjoying the benefits of living in Victoria.

No moaning here.
