Outerbridge Park returning to its glory

The selection of Outerbridge Park as one of the "hidden gems" in the Victoria/Saanich region is entirely justified.

The glory days of the original Shangri La garden are returning to this horticulture landmark. Not mentioned in the article is the enormous 30-month contribution of a small group of about 15 dedicated Horticulture Centre of the Pacific volunteers who come to the garden each Thursday morning.

Led by former Saanich parks director Dave de Shane, theirs has been the backbreaking work of clearing almost 10 years growth of blackberry and Scotch broom, and of preserving and restoring the park's amazing floral and water features.

These individuals are a tribute to the great spirit of volunteerism which today plays such a huge role in the capital region.
