I was so pleased to see that Saanich and Baptist Housing in conjunction with the Vancouver Island Health Authority will be starting construction on a new facility for seniors.
The current wait time of up to a month or more is a gross understatement in many cases.
My husband has been on a wait list for placement for more than eight months and, at great expense, has been placed in a private facility while waiting for space to become available.
Losing my husband to dementia and having to sell our family home to achieve quality care for him has been an experience I would not wish on anyone. With aging baby-boomers on the way, senior care is of major concern.
