Re: “Name new bridge after the Queen,” letter, Oct. 16.
Please, please, please. Let’s just name her Bridget and be done with it. Let’s not name it after anyone.
We are not England, the U.S. or any other country. We are Victoria and we are proud of it.
If we name it after someone (no name mentioned) we will regret it 10 or 20 years down the road. Then again, we will have to hide the statue in some out-of-the-way storage unit never to be seen again whether the people approve or not.
She is a bridge over the harbour and that is all she is. Bridget is perfect.
