Falcon's resignation doesn't help the party

Re: "Falcon goes, Clark plans new cabinet," Aug. 30.

Is my memory failing, or was it not Kevin Falcon who repeatedly demanded to know if Christy Clark would run in the the next general election if she failed to win the Liberal party leadership contest?

Well, Clark defeated Falcon and now it is he who is refusing to run for re-election. How convenient to suggest that he needs to spend more time with his young family. Had he won the leadership contest and become premier, I wonder if his young family would have taken precedence.

I have no doubt Falcon would easily have won his seat in the May election, had he decided to run. The prospects for another Liberal government, however, seem bleaker by the day and Falcon's decision to jump ship certainly doesn't help.

So much for party loyalty.
