Dangerous intersection needs warning light

I am writing in regard to the traffic light at McKenzie Avenue and Nelthorpe Street in Saanich. This is a dangerous intersection, as drivers frequently run the red light on McKenzie. There are three townhouse complexes and a school, which means a serious risk of injury to local children (and others) with drivers who do not see this light.

On July 16, I was involved in an accident at this intersection - a westbound pickup truck ran the red light on McKenzie, T-boning my car as I proceeded through a green light. My car was written off and I was taken by ambulance to hospital. I am still recovering from my injuries.

On Sept. 4, I was again at that intersection and was proceeding on the green light. I had been second in line waiting for the light to change. A car ran the red light after the first car had turned, narrowly missing my car.

There needs to be increased police enforcement at this intersection and a warning light installed on the east side of the intersection. I am concerned that more accidents will happen - I am sure mine was not the first, nor will it be the last.
