Over the past few decades, crime has fallen in some categories, yet policing costs have risen steadily.

Where other cities have made cuts to spending, Victoria's crime control uses up more than 40 per cent of its entire budget and compared to gross domestic product, remains the highest of any B.C. municipality.

An increase to funding is desperately needed to pay for our new bridge and failing infrastructure - a running total of $127 million and counting. The costs for policing are expected to rise sharply as more officers retire and those generous pensions are paid, leaving businesses and residents to see their taxes go up, contrary to this mayor and council's promise.
