Congratulations to Esquimalt council for protecting the capital region’s environment and its taxpayers.
Councillors did the right and courageous thing in rejecting the McLoughlin Point rezoning. The Capital Regional District project is misguided, obsolete and a waste of taxpayers’ money.
The CRD board needs to mend its ways; smart politicians need not make stupid decisions. The board needs to negotiate with the provincial and federal governments for a better and more sensible project. It needs to heed the advice of oceanographers who have condemned the calls for secondary treatment.
It also needs to to be courageous, admit it was wrong, scrap this initiative and move on.
