CRD can do 10 times better

Capital Regional District board chairman Colin Plant makes a strong case for achieving CRD contributions to reductions in the world’s greenhouse-gas emissions.

In considering the levels of emissions, a CRD estimate of $1.87 billion in gross domestic product (about $4,500 per capita) is stated.

The CRD estimate, using one per cent of Canada’s GDP of $1.87 trillion, should be $18.7 billion. It has been set 10 times too low.

Potential local contributions to world GNG emission reductions are 10 times higher than the percentages indicated in the commentary.
