Cougars aren't intent on harming people

Re: "The cougar is here to cull the deer," Aug. 31. I totally agree with the writer. Cougars are not interested in killing people and children, as is evident by the many sighted by the public, yet that cause no harm.

I totally agree with the writer. Cougars are not interested in killing people and children, as is evident by the many sighted by the public, yet that cause no harm. Cougars are after prey such as deer. With so many animals abundant on Vancouver Island, why are cougars starving? Why aren't the ministries involved investigating this?

I am growing weary reading of wildlife being killed out of revenge and an "even the score" mentality by wildlife officials and police. Animals don't act out of spite, revenge and anger. They act purely on instinct, for hunger or territorial reasons. We have to address this very urgent issue before there are no more cougars, bears or wolves left.
