Bus strike would hurt the most vulnerable

B.C. Transit driver Graham Orr works without a uniform as part of a protest at the slow pace of contract talks. A letter-writer expresses concern that a possible strike by transit workers will hurt members of the public who need transit the most.

The poor, marginal workers who have no cars had the most to lose, since they were unable to get to work and could not afford to miss a paycheque. They could not get their children to daycare; the students couldn't go to school.

The middle class had cars, so basically they were somewhat inconvenienced, but the ones with the least were hurt the most.

Is that what we're going to do in Victoria - hurt those who are already struggling every day just to survive?
