The fast-cats scandal was a scandal created by the B.C. Liberals.
While the fast-cats could not perform the task they were designed for because of the wash created by their speed, they nevertheless represented an innovative approach and provided investment opportunities and employment in B.C. When the Liberals came to power, they saw the fast-cats only as a tool to embarrass the NDP.
They could have been used as conventional ferries or they could have been sold at a decent price to put money in B.C. coffers.
Instead, the Liberals chose to sell them at fire-sale prices for political gamesmanship and no benefit to the province.
