April 24: Sri Lankan bombs deserved front page

Re: “Green Party Leader Elizabeth May marries at Christ Church Cathedral,” April 23. Does the Times Colonist mean to tell me that that was the most news-worthy headline going? I’m happy for Elizabeth May.

Re: “Green Party Leader Elizabeth May marries at Christ Church Cathedral,” April 23.

Does the Times Colonist mean to tell me that that was the most news-worthy headline going?

I’m happy for Elizabeth May. But, come on: 321 Christians/Catholics were killed in Sri Lanka and more than 500 injured on Easter Sunday, mostly in their churches attending Easter services or tourists and families just enjoying breakfast in hotels. They were killed by Islamic terrorists who hate anything Christian.

ISIS has since taken credit for the attacks and that story was relegated to pages A6 and A7. Do the editors have any sense of what is important to the readers?

When the atrocity happened in New Zealand, it got front-page coverage. Is it because the majority killed in Sri Lanka were Catholics, therefore less worthy?
