April 14: Create more jobs to repair the Earth

We all know we need good jobs to feed our families and keep a roof over our heads.

We all know we need good jobs to feed our families and keep a roof over our heads. But using jobs as a rationale for over-cutting our forests well beyond sustainability and fracking every last drop of gas so the earth shakes, our water is poisoned and our air is laced with methane, makes no sense. We sell our resources below the cost of production and ship raw logs to China.

Here’s one solution: We have hundreds, maybe thousands of abandoned oil wells and frack sites polluting our land. Let the government create the jobs to clean them up. Let them hire tree planters to restock forests that aren’t being replanted.

We’d reduce our greenhouse gases and begin to repair the Earth. And it would cost less than the billions of dollars we taxpayers are forking out in LNG subsidies.
