The B.C. Deer Protection Coalition will hold a demonstration outside Victoria Conference Centre at noon Wednesday in an effort to persuade municipal politicians that there are alternatives to killing deer.

Municipal politicians from all over B.C. are in Victoria for the Union of B.C. Municipalities meetings and many councils are struggling with the deer question, Kelly Carson of DeerSafe Victoria said.

"If people want to support us, they can come down to the Conference Centre," said Carson, who is hoping the group can provide councils with research that backs alternatives to culls.

A petition asking Capital Regional District directors not to authorize a cull now has about 1,300 signatures, Carson said.
