A Duncan woman has been charged after a stabbing at a Langford apartment complex early Sunday morning.

A 32-year-old Langford resident was taken to hospital with serious but non-threatening injuries.

The victim identified his attacker to WestShore RCMP at the scene, saying it was a woman he had only recently met. Officers and a canine team searched the apartment area on Treanor Avenue.

RCMP said further investigation led them to a residence on Deville Road in Langford, where Brenna Barker, 32, was arrested and brought to court Monday.

Barker, who is known to police in the area, was charged with assault with a weapon and released on multiple conditions.

“This incident highlights the serious risks faced by all first responders.” said Westshore RCMP spokeswoman Const. Meighan Massey in a statement. “As a direct result of the skilled and efficient work of our front line officers and the B.C. Ambulance Service paramedics, the victim of this attack is recovering well and the accused, Barker, was located and arrested.”
