Woman assaulted, robbed by man in Comox after locking up business

Comox Valley RCMP has asked the public for help in finding a man who assaulted a woman in a robbery early on Friday.

At 12:50 a.m., police received a report of a robbery and serious assault at a business in the 700 block of Anderton Road in Comox.

The victim reported that she had just locked up the store and was putting items into her vehicle trunk when a man approached her, displayed what appeared to be a handgun and demanded her valuables. In a struggle, the woman was assaulted and sustained a cut to her neck. The suspect made off with her purse and car keys.

Police are still gathering evidence and will release surveillance photos of the suspect if they become available, said Const. Monika Terragni, media relations officer for Comox Valley RCMP.

Police asked anyone who was in the area to review dashcam or surveillance footage and contact police with any information.

The suspect is described as Caucasian, in his 20s, about five-foot-six to five-foot-eight, with short hair and a skinny build. He was wearing black pants and a black mask, and had the hood pulled up on a light grey jacket that had a white diamond pattern.
