Wind warnings are in effect for several areas of Vancouver Island, with winds expected to reach 90 kilometres an hour.

Courtenay to Campbell River, and Nanoose Bay to Fanny Bay are forecast to see strong winds Sunday night due to an approaching frontal system, according to Environment Canada. Winds in that region are expected to ease by Monday morning as the front moves inland.

North Vancouver Island will be affected as well, with winds of about 90 km/h.

West Vancouver Island won’t see severe winds Sunday night, but Environment Canada forecasts say southeast wind patterns on Monday evening will likely hit 90 km/h due to a deep low pressure system.
